Here are a few videos of the sawmill close up when cutting some cedar boards. Just enough to give you a quick look at making some 1X12 from a 12 inch wide prepared cant.

A cant is a what you get after squaring a log and removing the bark sections.  Next it is sized to the desired width of your finished boards. Then, cut each board to the proper thickness.
